While we've been remote our team has been working hard to overhaul our media studios. This project sought to create studios that made the learning curve for making instructional media a little less steep. This is the first iteration of the DIY studio's primary configuration. This video demonstrates the process to start recording - tapping across a few screens and entering in your ODIN is all that is needed to start creating a video lecture that will upload directly to your Mediaspace account.
A very nice booking calendar is being finished by yours truly and will be live on our landing page:
https://www.pdx.edu/academic-innovation/teaching-support/faculty-multimedia-labsIn the meantime Portland State instructors can book directly using my on campus calendar:
https://econnelly-pdx-1.youcanbook.me/Pardon the dust as we work out the kinks in the build. Also, some features we are hoping to include are not ready yet. If there are certain needs you have for your project make sure to note it in the booking form. This room can be used for other types of media projects and using this direct feed to Mediaspace is only one option. If you have a specific use need we will do our best to find the resources to set up the space to meet the needs of your course.
Multimedia isn't easy to make. Trust me, I have a tangle of videos I have been working on in preparation for these studios and it takes work to create a sustainable, efficient practice of it. I've been doing this a long time and I am still nowhere near there yet.
